WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (December 2, 2021) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League announced today, Manitou FC will join the league for the 2022 season. With the announcement, the league expands further into the Upper Midwest as Manitou FC becomes seventh WPSL club in Minnesota.

In a group statement the club’s Board of Directors express their excitement for joining the WPSL.

“This opportunity gives Manitou FC a capstone for its female players, who through their development at Manitou, will continue to develop as players and individuals while away from their college programs

Manitou’s Board of Directors went on to say “the WPSL opportunity is another way for younger female players to set goals of one day playing for Manitou’s first team

Founded in 1981, as White Bear Soccer Club, the club’s Board of Directors changed its name to Manitou FC in 2020 to further reflect the 40 years of community ties and tradition, while simultaneously welcoming players from all over the Twin Cities. By joining the WPSL, the club sees the league’s platform as another opportunity to provide its youth players with the ambition to play for its women’s first team.

Edi Buro will serve as the WPSL team’s head coach and Zuheer Al Abase will serve as his assistant. Buro has been Manitou’s sporting director since 2015 after coming off a ten year professional career within the United States and Europe. Under the Bosnia and Herzegovina native’s leadership, Manitou has developed more than 40 college players who have signed at the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels.

“I am excited for our Manitou Football Club community to be part of the Women’s Premier Soccer League,” Buro said. “Our players will have opportunities to compete and play against top-level competition and our younger players and future Mantious will have a chance to aspire to play for MFC beyond their youth career

Manitou stays active off the field by participating in the Kick It Back program of the Sanneh Foundation. Through this program, Manitou has sent donated soccer equipment to children in Bosnia, Ethiopia, and Tanzania.

The home venue for Mantiou’s inaugural WPSL season and ticket information will be announced soon.

2012 Girls & 2010 Boys take home hardware in first tournament action!

ODO "BRSC-ASPIRS"

The 2012 Girls team had an exciting Summer. They participated in three tournaments this summer and have won two of three. Their only loss was while competing a year up. They took a team trip to Maine this Summer and dominated the Northeast. With a 3-1-0 record, scoring 26 goals and only conceded 2. They brought home the championship trophy in the A bracket and loved every minute of the trip. Here is the story! They then competed in the Lake Nona Season Opener, went 4-0, scored 26, and conceded 1 winning another trophy. Read that story here.

ODO "BRSC-ASPIRS"

The 2010 Boys team went undefeated this Summer and competed in an older age group en route to their first tournament trophy. With a 3-1-0 record in the tournament, they battled the weather and a short bench to win the cup. Here is the story!

Located off the beaten path, Crested Butte is known for some of the best lift-served extreme terrain in the nation. Home to quirky costume events and our friendly vibe, Crested Butte is a place you want to add to your bucket lis.

Crested Butte is one of the few places that can still be called a real Colorado ski town. When you walk around town, you’ll feel it in the unparalleled views and the meticulously preserved false-front buildings reminiscent of its mining days.

There are no traffic lights, no chain stores and no high-rise buildings. Yet you’ll quickly see there’s no shortage of entertainment and dining options-all run by some of the most welcoming people you’ll ever meet.

If you are not a skier or snowboarder, there are still a plethora of activities for you to enjoy as well- surrounded by 1. 7 million acres of National Forest, you can snowshoe, fat bike, and cross country ski, right out your front door in any direction.

Mountain:
As the birthplace of inbounds extreme terrain, our mountain promises to feed your appetite for challenge and captivate your heart. Home to 2,700 vertical feet and 1,500 acres, quirky costume events like the Al Johnson Memorial Telemark Race, and the freedom to be who you are (not what’s expected). There is also plenty of skiing for beginners and intermediates.

New in 2021/2022: We all aspire to do big things. If your big thing means one day slashing turns in Crested Butte’s world-renowned Extreme Limits terrain, Peachtree Lift will help you get there. It’s your steppingstone to the steeps. a new, three-person fixed-grip lift serving beginner terrain at the base of the resort. The new lift will increase uphill capacity by 50 percent, resulting in quicker access to the mountain and relief to nearby learning areas. Peachtree’s location adjacent to the Aspen and Pine conveyor lifts is the ideal spot for skiers and riders just learning the sport to enhance their skills and progress into terrain accessed by a chairlift.

The benefits don’t stop there. The project included grading of terrain to create a more consistent pitch across the entire slope, allowing beginners to focus on the fundamentals. After all, learning to ski or ride should be both fun and easy.

Why Play With Us

Underserved Summer Programming

Unfortunately, competitive soccer programs in the state of Florida take June & July off. In fact, many clubs  «wind-down» in April & May and then don’t pick back up until the middle of August. We believe that this is an opportunity to stay fresh, get extra touches and compete year-round with other motivated players.

Club Neutral & Elite Coaching

With the best coaches in our area, we have the only soccer training environment your athlete needs. Skill development now, skill development tomorrow, skill development always.

A Winning Mindset

While a tiny % of atheltes will go Pro, there should always be an end goal. Through our strategic partnerships with DME Academy in Daytona, International Development Academy in Spain, the UK, and Italy — we provide unique soccer and education pathways for the aspiring athletes.
